Fidget Quilts: Lacing
Two flaps can be closed by lacing a shoelace thought the eyelets.

Materials:
- Basic backing block Something big and bold would work well. (This one has a jungle scene.)
- Two contrasting fabrics for the inside and outside of the flaps.
- 10 eyelets of assorted colors.
- Hole punch and eyelet tool. This may come with the eyelets
- 10" shoestring
Instructions:
From the pattern page, cut out the patterns for the lacing flaps.
- Cut two pieces of each color.
- With the right sides together stitch the two contrasting colors together, leaving one long edge open.
- Repeat for second flap.
- Turn inside out, finger press along the seam, then top stitch about 1/4" from edge.
- Center the two flaps on the backing and stitch in place along the long edge only. (The flaps must be free to open and shut.)
- With the pattern mark the location for the eyelets.
- Use a hole punch, then push the colored eyelet in on the top, and insert the little flat washer on the back.
- Position in the eyelet tool and squeeze hard. Inspect that the eyelet is secure.
- Tie a knot in the middle of the shoestring, then lace the flaps together.
Notes:
- When you sew the lacing block to the other blocks in the quilt assembly, make sure that the flaps are not sewn in place and are free to open.
