Fidget Quilts: Ribbons
A few ribbons, lace, and two elastic loops. Twist the ribbons between your fingers, or braid them. Use the clip to hold them to the loop.
Materials:
- Basic backing block Something shiny would be nice here.
- 2 pieces of elastic, about 5 or 6" long
- 5 pieces of lace, rick-rack, ribbons, etc. about 8 or 9" long.
- One piece of wider ribbon or lace, about 8" long
- One small sewing clip
Instructions:
- Lay the wider piece of ribbon crosswise at an angle and sew to the backing at both ends. (This will hold the other ribbons in place when not in use.)
- Make a loop of the two pieces of elastic and sew one loop to one edge, the other loop to a different edge.
- Arrange the ribbons randomly along the top edge and stitch in place.
- If you have a small sewing clip, tie it to one end of a ribbon and sew in place.
Notes:
- Less is more. Don't add so much ribbon it is overwhelming.
- I had some ribbon donated to me. Lots of people have ribbon laying around, just let people know what you are working on.
- When you assemble the quilt, make sure the ribbons don't get caught in the seams.
